 13- PROJECTIVE RESEARCH

Definition

Projective Research is a type of study that describes, analizes, compares, interpretes, and proposes solutions to a problem in a specific geographic and theoretical area. Its purpose is to prepare a settlement to tackle a greater need—one affecting a certain group of people and that considers the phenomenon evolution. Nevertheless, the problem is not solved because the final objective is to provide made-in-advance action schemes. Therefore, theory remains essential since it backs up the fundamentals of the investigation.

Characteristics

- It proposes yet does not apply the propositions in the subject matter.
- It gathers analytical, quantitative, and qualitative data for the explanation of the current situation and provides countermeasures against the obstacles to good performance.
- It considers upcoming needs to devise tentative plans.
- This study emphasizes the relations between subject matters and their causes for those interactions will coordinate the research enterprises later.

Main uses

- Analysis of mental illnesses through ink smudges
- Recognition of psychological development in mentally compromised patients
- Quality of social relationships among student
- Reception of a brand or product by customers
- Creation of blueprints for a building

Advantages and disadvantages

Pros:
- It takes less time to develop all the steps of research since.
- Answers to tools come preserved from intervention of the investigators; therefore, they are less biased.
- The project collects through information from every aspect of the formation of the problem, continuity and possible outcome.
- It can be used for big and small groups because of its simplicity.
Cons:
- It does not bring improvements to the research matter.
- It is not a highly confident research type because it lacks reality representation (application).
- Researchers require great categorization and treatment of information for a concise data base.
